Christian television station owner (of the “Voice of Mercy”) Eli Rop and Gospel radio proclaimer Teddy Kamau, both natives of Kenya, visited the United States and came into the Bott radio studios (www.bottradionetwork.com) in St. Louis, MO. In our radio recording you can hear anytime (at www.haroldhendrick.com) their powerful story of the advancement of the Gospel of Jesus in their native land utilizing radio and television there. Teddy’s radio broadcasts cover much of their native land, and Eli’s television signal, I understand, covers the whole of Kenya and spills over into neighboring African countries. “Despise not small beginning,” Eli reminds us, for he reports that his first days of his Christian TV station’s broadcasting began in a “mud hut!” (See www.sayarertv.org)
As an encouragement to missionaries – and to those who pray for and financially support missions – Teddy tells of the missionaries that came to Kenya in the early 1900’s and led his grandfather to Jesus. Now Teddy, impacted by the influence of his parents and grandparents, is broadcasting the Gospel message to a large portion of his country, living out the message brought to his family by missionaries.
Dr. Eli Rop’s story is similar: missionaries brought to Kenyans the message of the Gospel of love of Jesus, and now Eli owns one of only two Christian TV stations in the country. In this radio discussion he provides an example of some of his format. He personally communicates the Gospel on TV, and people call in — one after the other — wanting to have a saving relationship with Jesus!
In St. Louis Eli Rop, Teddy Kamau, and another long-time radio proclaimer of the Gospel in Kenya, Christopher Mutai, were the guests of Kenyans in ministry in St. Louis: Pastor Paul Macharia of Christ Covenant Church, ministering in a growing congregation of people primarily from Africa; and Dr. Solomon Kendagor, with wife Ruby, for more than 25-years Directing St. Louis International Students, Inc. (www.isionline.org), a ministry befriending and sharing the Good News of Jesus to the thousands of international students studying in Colleges and Universities in the St. Louis Area.
