The internationally recognized 100th Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Tournament of August 9 – 12, 2018 at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis is to be watched on television by multiplied millions around the world.
For those viewing the tournament in person, on television, or later on film, the youth carrying the upright “score” standards for the different teams of world-famous golfers … are Urban K-life young people.
It is because of a special program called “PGA Reach,” that Urban K-life youth are so prominent in their service and involvement in the tournament.
But this is just one week and one small aspect of a long-running and meaningful ministry, Urban K –life, led by Jason Julian. This great service to these important but often overlooked young people has been a valued aspect of inner-city St. Louis for many years … and is intended to continue for many more years.

Jason reports that the gospel, the good news of Jesus is “…front and center in their ministry to their youth! We are not looking for ‘window dressing,’ surface and image changing in our young people … but changed transformed hearts.”
Jason’s personal story is remarkable. After a long spiritual journey with many battles, Jason Julian is the effective leader of St. Louis’ Urban K-life! See www.urbanklife.com. It is not the “glory story” as many might expect. In the 1980’s he played football as the “safety” with the University of Tennessee before stadiums with 100,000 people attending. Then there were the millions watching on television and listening on radio. During those four years that he played his team won two Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships.
Jason played in three major bowl games … Sugar, Cotton, and Fiesta.
At age 23, he had written his suicide note!
But our Living God intervened! He now lives with and loves the Urban K-life Ministry, for years now helping, loving, and encouraging hundreds of inner-city youth … one young person at a time.
More of his Urban K-life and personal story is intended to be shared on later broadcasts. A summary of the ministry’s background and staff can be found at www.urbanklife.com and http://www.urbanklife.com/k-life-team/.
In Jason’s story, he is even thankful for the role that depression God uses in his life! “Every time I am tempted to go back into that world of drinking and partying in former football glory days with the old buddies, God sends me depression. And when I come back in my heart to Jesus, that takes care of the depression.”
