Dr. Mark Grossmann/David Hendrick; specialist Mark defines strategic importance of Biblical orality

It was something of a reunion:  Mark Grossmann and David Hendrick spent years together as teenagers in our church .  The both were called of God into special service and were roommates in Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.  Then they both served in missionary commitment with their families with the International Mission Board, Mark in Africa, David in Russia and the Middle East.

So here they are together once again, this time in what might be called “good fellowship … on radio!” 

Indeed the reunion was delightful, but the real focus was on the emerging “orality” focus … which missions’ specialist, the late Dr. Avery Willis, described as “ … one of the most significant breakthroughs in world missions in the last 500 years!”  Dr. Willis, my dear friend from our Oklahoma Baptist University days together, was an early “pioneer” in spotlighting the movement in contemporary times, leading in the development of the “International Orality Network” (www.orality.net) and served as its first President.

In Mark’s research for his earned doctorate at Golden Gate Seminary in California … while still serving in missions in Africa … Mark wrote his thesis on Biblical Orality, applied it effectively on the mission field in another language.  He was thrilled at the results of his study and practice of Biblical orality.  He is now recognized as a specialist in orality and has prepared an impacting curriculum in the field.
