In November of 2016, after being missing for 28 months, the remains of Lynn Messer — the wife of Kerry Messer — have been discovered. In searching for an area to hunt deer during deer season, she was found by her own 15-year-old granddaughter, who had been very close to her grandmother.
Now you can hear anytime his insights and thoughts in this radio conversation, now that her skeletal remains have been found.
Kerry Messer is a remarkable man. Encouraged by his dear wife for more than 30 years, he has been a “traditional values” lobbyist in the Missouri Legislature in Jefferson City. He effectively advocates for legislation pertaining to biblical and traditional values, dialoging with elected Senators and Representatives to advance good legislation, very frequently testifying in committee hearings.
It is a calling. It is his ministry.
He established the Missouri Family Network (www.mofirst.org) as a source of issues information for all of us.
Most Missouri lobbyists receive an annual income in the “six figures.” Kerry does it “on a shoestring.” He refuses to seek a “501 © (3)” status – which would give donors tax credits and , thus, probably more income — for he doesn’t want the government to restrict his message, telling him what he can and cannot say.
An example of his impacting influence: a few years ago, Mel Gibson released his powerful movie, “The Passion of the Christ .“ In Jefferson City – under the good leadership of Pastor Monte Shinkle – Concord Baptist Church rented a theater near the Missouri State Capitol. Kerry asked Monte and the church to rent it for an extra day to provide another private showing of the movie. Kerry spoke to every Missouri Senator, member of the House of Representative, and/or his/her office, . He provided them an invitation and time and place of the free showing … for them. Some legislative committees rescheduled meeting times so they could attend.
At the appointed time of the showing of this powerful exposure of the sufferings of Jesus Christ during His crucifixion, approximately 120 Senators, members of the House of Representatives and their staff members attended!
Why is this important? Romans 5:8 says … “But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (1) God loves us, but (2) we are sinners, (3) so Jesus Christ died for our sins! And … “Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved …” [Romans 10:13] and (the verse read to me when Jesus came into my life): … [Jesus said} “Whoever comes to me, I will not cast out…” (John 6:37). My testimony: I was disturbed … under “conviction” regarding my sin, in prayer I called upon the Son of God to same me. Thus I came to Jesus by faith, and he did not reject me … He forgave my sin and came into my life! And I have never regretted it!
I have never heard of anything else like this in any other legislature in the United States of America … seeing a great reenactment of the death of Jesus who died in our place!
Thank you, Kerry Messer, and to all others who help make this happen! Now that we know that she is “gone,” we wish Christian sympathy to you and your family in the “Homegoing” of your dear wife, Lynn Messer!
More Insights …
As a young married man with two children, he was a “blue collar” worker in St. Louis. On his own – working with the American Family Association — he strategized against pornography to the extent that his employer threatened his job.
“You do what you have to do,” Kerry responded, “and I’ll do what I have to do.”
They fired him. He and Lynn, with their two little boys, lost their house in St. Louis and moved back to the family farm an hour south, into a house that had been used as something of a barn. At first it had no inside plumbing. (“Four rooms and a path!” as they say.)
“You do what you are led to do,” Lynn Messer had said to him “and I will support you!” She did just that.
Kerry Messer for decades has and is a positive influence on Missouri!
