It happens every year … the big, inspirational Businessmen’s Prayer Breakfast of St. Louis County, just west of St. Louis, Mo. Upwards of 1,000 attend this great event in the St. Charles (Mo) Convention Center.
In this brief radio conversation, new Executive Director Derrill Martin “fills us in” on all the details. The Breakfast usually happens annually on the second Tuesday in 2016, to accommodate schedules, it happens on Wednesday, September 7th this year.
All the information needed is available at www.ministrytomen.net.
Director emeritus Charlie Williams and Ben Blanton of Blanton Construction Company are among the founders … and it continues, as of this writing, for the 22nd year. I remember hosting radio to promote the first one, with Charlie Williams and Ben Blanton in studio. We included by telephone that first year’s speaker, then US Senator Ben Armstrong of Colorado.
In this radio recording, a remarkable feature of Ministry to Men was spotlighted. Every week more than 40 Bible Discussion Groups gather for Bible study (avoiding language too “churchy”) and for supporting each other in friendship. Want to know where the next ones meet? Today? Tomorrow? Any other day of the week? You’ll find it at www.ministrytomen.net,
I invited Derrill to soon do radio with me again regarding an amazing reality. Two years ago Ministry to Men was hosting just over 20 discussion groups each week. Two years later, in 2016, more than 40 different groups of men meet weekly. What about this “explosion” of growth?
Director Martin says: “I see Ministry to Men as an opportunity for me to work alongside our leadership board and other community leaders; empowering men to know and grow in Christ in St. Charles County and beyond. My roles include sharing the gospel, discipleship, equipping and developing leaders, and networking to connect men to ministry. I am excited and grateful to serve with Ministry to Men!”
Derrill’s past service includes ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and several years in the Philippines.
Bott Radio Network-owned KSIV-AM (1320) in St. Louis – hosting a table each year in support of the Breakfast — is pleased to soon rebroadcast the inspirational stories from each year’s keynote speaker.
