Precept Ministries International is one of the very best and most effective Bible teaching ministries in the world.
This radio conversation is with Chief Executive Officer David Arthur and son of the founder Kay Arthur, provides an overview of this great work and speaks of his visit to St. Louis, MO.
The ministry’s very helpful website, www.precept.org, provides an amazing amount of helpful material. Quotes from it are cited below:
“Started in 1970 on a chicken farm in Chattanooga, TN – with the simple mission of establishing people in God’s word. Today Precept is doing bible studies in every state in the USA and over 180 countries and in 70 languages. We are a non-denominational ministry solely focused on providing materials and training for people to study God’s word for themselves. We have over 100 studies ranging from children’s materials to seminary level material. ”Precept Ministries International was raised up by God for the sole purpose of establishing people in God’s Word to produce reverence for Him. It serves as an arm of the church without respect to denomination. God has enabled Precept to reach across denominational lines without compromising the truths of His inerrant Word. We believe every word of the Bible was inspired and given to man as all that is necessary for him to become mature and thoroughly equipped for every good work of life. This ministry does not seek to impose its doctrines on others, but rather to direct people to the Master Himself, who leads and guides by His Spirit into all truth through a systematic study of His Word. The ministry produces a variety of Bible studies and holds conferences and intensive Training Workshops designed to establish attendees in the Word through the Precept™ Inductive Bible Study Method….”.
I am indebted to Renee Higgins for this time of radio with David Arthur. Dr. David Claybrook and I frequently visit a monthly Saturday morning gathering — very refreshing – called “Pastoral Fellowship.” Renee’s husband, Pastor Mike Higgins (Dean of Students of Covenant Seminary of St. Louis) and Pastor Phil Brownlee – brothers-in-law to each other – are co-founders.
Renee announced at a recent Pastoral Fellowship meeting that David Arthur of the widely known and effective Precept Ministries was to soon be the guest at their South (St. Louis) City Church. At my request, Renee made contact that resulted in this time of radio with CEO Arthur. With my many years of admiration of the Precept Ministries focus on the Bible, in my conducting 27 years of part-time radio, this was my first Precept interview.
