It is what I expected! Mike is a Godly man who loves Jesus and the Bible, wants to honor God in all things, and lives in … and loves … his Ferguson, MO, community.
He is only the second pastor of this great church founded in the 1950’s, the first being his grandfather, the founding pastor — Friendly Temple is an amazing story.
Below is a message he sent to his people and other friends on August 14, 2014:
“Attention All FTMBC Members and Friends!!
“As many of you may already know, a terrible tragedy occurred in Ferguson as a young man, Michael Brown, was shot and killed during an altercation with law enforcement. Our prayers must be extended to the Brown family, to the officer involved in the shooting incident and to his family. We must also lift up the law enforcement officers that are being summoned from all over the city and attempting to keep order, and to the government leaders and workers in each of the municipalities that are now being affected.
“The rioting and looting that took place are a manifestation of high level spirits that have been waiting for an opportune time to provoke and enflame. We, as children of God, must stand in the gap, come in with an opposing spirit, and release the Father’s heart over this situation and region.
“We are asking all members and friends who are able to join us TODAY, AUGUST 14TH, AT 5PM TO MARCH PEACEFULLY FOR JUSTICE, DIGNITY AND RESPECT. We will meet at the QuikTrip that was recently impacted and burned down. The Governor and Justice Department are in support of a peaceful march. We will represent Christ in our hearts as we exercise our right to assemble peacefully.
In His Service,
Pastor Michael Jones”
