Mark Lowry’s “Music and Madness” evening – partnering with “The Martins” (www.the-martins.com) – is hilariously funny, loose and relaxed, with a lot of terrific music! Joan and I and many of our friends found it to be “one of the best evenings ever.”

Mark is best known for his very funny humor, his years with Gaither Vocal Band, and his music, the best known of his songs being his awesome “Mary Did you Know?” The words were birthed when his pastor asked him to write the Christmas drama for the church. He took it on … and imagined questions he would have for Mary while still at the manger.
“I had no idea it would become a ‘hit,’” he said. (Scores of other artists … secular and Christian … have now recorded it.)
Most phrases begin with … “Mary did you know that your baby boy”… and then continues …

*When Gabriel appeared to Mary in Nazareth to tell her that she, a virgin, was going to “with child” and that God, not a man, would be the Father, she might have asked him: “Will you please explain that to my mother?”
*On the security of our eternal life in Christ: “Since you asked God to save and forgive you of your sins … and for Jesus to come into your life to save you, do you think that “… He has a piece of chalk in one hand and an eraser in the other?”
*As a little boy Mark said that his parents changed from one church – who said that believers WOULD go through the Tribulation – to the church across the street who said that Christians would NOT go through the Tribulation but would first be raptured. “Think of it,” Mark concluded. “Those people could have missed the Tribulation and been Raptured. All they had to do was walk across the street!”
*God loves you so much that your picture is on the door of His refrigerator!”
*Thinking of the style of his longtime friend Bill Gaither, predicted ”… Bill Gaither is going to sell CD’s & DVDs of his funeral … with all the nice, soothing, funeral music!” …
Attending “Music and Madness” with Joan and me was Jim “Walking Bible” McNiel … who has put to memory great portions of the Bible. Mark heard of it, singled Jim out, and during the concert took the microphone down to talk to him.
