In this brief radio discussion, Dr. Chris Stocklin, new President of 100-year-old Brookes Bible College (formerly “Institute”) of St. Louis, MO, discusses the expanding role and benefits of the College in teaching the Bible as God’s Word. He is accompanied and encouraged in the broadcast by financial leader, Harry Langenberg.
News is provided of the school’s purchase of an additional campus site … on St. Charles Rock Road in the western portion of the St. Louis area … while maintaining its current site in south St. Louis on South Grand just south of Tower Grove Park.
From www.brookesbible.com we read: “On September 24, 1909 a group of Christian businessmen met at the home of Mr. John F. Green in St. Louis to organize a school devoted to teaching the Bible.” These founding board members included Mr. B. F. Edwards who was elected Treasurer of the group.
B. F. Edwards was a key founder of what came to be the very effective and reputable financial house, A. G. Edwards. He was the son of Albert Gallatin Edwards, “… appointed to a Treasury Department post by President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 …”:
Dr. Stocklin notes that whatever Brookes’ first treasurer B. F. Edwards did in helping to found Brookes Bible Institute and in getting it off to a good start, “ … he did it right!”
(Benjamin F. “Tad” Edwards IV, great-grandson of Brookes Bible College founding board member B. F. Edwards, has continued the family tradition by his more recent founding of Benjamin F. Edwards & Co” (www.benjaminfedwards.com), with primary offices in St. Louis.)
Dr. Stocklin further notes that Brookes is very compatible in its message with Bott Radio Network. “If one can affirm the message of Bott Radio Network (owner of the St. Louis KSIV station upon which this radio conversation first aired), “… he will be comfortable with the theology and message of Brookes Bible College!”
