Christian Schools have great advantages for Christian families … and, potentially, all others … as they build upon the solid foundation and teachings of the Bible as the Word of God. While holding high educational standards, students can attend Bible classes, pray in each class throughout the day, and receive great input into the lives, strengthening a Biblical worldview not allowed in government schools.
My wife Joan and I are blessed with a happy home, enriched by three children we raised with a Christian worldview based on the Word of God. We were in churches with like values. Throughout it all, those values, that love, and healthy disciplines were reinforced daily at Faith Christian School in Florissant (St. Louis), Missouri – and, with daughter, at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis, MO.
It was a formula that worked beautifully — though not always perfectly — for us. Our children, now adults and parents themselves, still carried those values of building such worldviews into their children. Today they continue their desires to love, serve, and seek an ongoing relationship with the living God in Christ.
Two of those Christian school coaches at the time, Patrick Turner and his brother, Joe Turner, made their appreciated contributions to the lives of our children as their athletic coaches.
And today, Mr. Patrick Turner … “Mr. T,” as he is known … is the Superintendent of the Living Word Christian School in O’Fallon, MO (in the west portion of the St. Louis, MO, region). Thus Mr. T. continues that important lifestyle of building into the lives of hundreds of students , doing so in partnership with his faculty, staff, school board members, parents, students, and their supporters.
And a nice plus: as I write, the Living Word Christian School football team is 5 and 0!
From the Living Word Christian School website, www.lwcs.us: “Mr. T. has been with Living Word Christian School since 2009. He is a Vietnam veteran, a former land surveyor, and has spent 20 years as a missionary, 18 of those years in Alliance Academy, a missionary school in Quito, Ecuador. Mr. T received his BA degree from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. He has an advance studies degree from Moody Bible Institute and earned his master’s degree from the University of Alabama. He is currently working on the dissertation for his doctorate.”
About good Christian schools in general: in these times where “… good is called evil … and evil is called good … “ (See Isaiah 5:20), a good Christian school will partner with parents and churches in seeking to build a Christian and Biblical worldview into their children, the students.
Living Word Christian School (www.lwcs.us) is one of those schools … and can be called, without obligation, for information at 636-978-1680…or emailed at pturner@lwcs.us.
