The story of Carla and Bill Simokaitis is remarkable, but true. They connected in a relationship in South St. Louis that included drugs, sex, and who knows what all. Hear it now, in their own words. Click on the mp3.
In the middle of their “wild ”lifestyle, God the Holy Spirit pricked Carla’s heart. A friend, a Christian witness came to their house, presented God’s plan of forgiveness and life change, and Carla received it…by faith. Within a few weeks Bill saw a delightful change in her and was open to what had made this difference in her.
What happened to Carla?
Carla’s life had been enmeshed in sinful living. But she was cleansed by God Himself and God saw her as if she had never sinned! For “… the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin … “ (I John 1:7)
And “… God directed His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us…” (Romans 5:8) .
And “For whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
And “This is the record, that God has given us eternal life, and this [eternal] life is in His Son [Jesus Christ]. Whoever has the Son [Jesus] has [eternal] life and whoever does not have the son does not have [eternal] life.” (I John 5: 11,12)
This is the wonderful exchange that took place in Carla’s life … all her sin was on Jesus, and all God’s sinlessness [righteousness] went on Carla!
“God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him [Jesus] we might become the righteousness of God …” (II Corinthians 5:21)
And it is all because of God’s grace, His favor on us that we did not earn!
“For by grace [unmerited favor from God] that we are saved, and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God. Not by our works lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” [Ephesians 2:8 – 10]
These wonderful blessings and benefits are available to all of us!
Eternal life for Bill was to come a bit later.
Not without racial prejudice in their past, they soon were taking vehicle loads of food that they collected, for distribution deep into the inner City of North St. Louis.
And currently they are missionaries to “Aids” victims in Kenya, Africa!
