Jerome Bracely, leader of “Steppin’ in the Light” Ministries, through the years has helped hundreds of men break addictions through the power of God.
When a younger man, Jerome was addicted to and sold drugs. In the year before his life change, he was homeless and lived in St. Louis abandoned buildings year around.
He caught a city bus to “New Life Evangelistic Center” in St. Louis, founded and led by Rev. Larry Rice. They took him in, gave him love, the Good News of Jesus, training, and a place to stay.
He was to receive a calling from God to help men, like he had been, to break addictions, pointing them to Jesus.
A big house in the inner-city was donated to New Life Evangelistic Center for $1 dollar. Rev Larry Rice directed the realter to Jerome and his “Stepping into the Light” Ministry. In making the transaction with Jerome Bracely, the realtor asked him for the purchase price of $1!
Jerome did not have a dollar on him, so he borrowed the dollar from the realtor!
The “big” house was rehabbed, and hundreds of addicted men have gone through his program, wherein an extremely high number of the men overcame their addiction!
A woman living in the back part of the house sexually offered her body for “rent” so she could stay.
Jerome Bracely refused. “God called me to help men!” he said. In the same manner Joseph, the Old Testament son of Jacob, refused the sexual offers of Potiphar’s wife, as seen in Genesis 39: 4 – 17. God blessed both Jerome and Joseph for their refusing sexual sin and temptation.
My telephone prayer partner for 23 years, Carl Hummel, leads some Saturday morning training sessions with the men being helped. They live in the “Steppin into the Light” ministry house for usually a few weeks in seeking the Lord and being helped in breaking their addictions!
Remembering that the Bible says … “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son, Jesus Christ. Whoever has the Son Jesus has eternal life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life.” (I John 5:11,12)
