In one year recently, Alex was a spokesman for the great work of Samaritan’s Purse, “Operation Christmas Child.”
A dramatic nine-minute video of the powerful story of child Rwandan war survivor, Alex Nsengimana, can be seen by clicking on … www.samaritanspurse.org/alex.
Alex of Rwanda survived the horrible Rwandan war there in the 1990’s … he saw family members murdered, resulting in his being placed in an orphanage. While there he and the other children were given – wherein he was forever impacted by — an Operation Christmas Child shoebox of gifts! In time he was adopted by a USA Christian family, and personally received Jesus into his life.
After doing some research, Alex traveled back to Rwanda and located his uncle’s murderer in a prison there. He then went to him to tell him that he, Alex, had forgiven him!
While there, Alex went to the orphanage where he had lived … to give out OCC shoeboxes to the children living there now.
Franklin Graham writes about the Alex story in his book: Operation Christmas Child — A Story of Simple Gifts
The collection time of Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes – 100 million distributed to date — is in November each year; the 2013 date was November 18 – 25. For more, visit www.samaritanspurse.org.
