This terrific story that has resulted in five schools attended by 3,000 Zambian children had such a simple beginning. When his St. Louis area pastor asked for volunteers to house members of a touring Zambian choir overnight, businessman Bob Bertels quickly raised his hand. Without having any idea of where this was going, that was literally the beginning of a great ministry … “African Vision of Hope” (See www.africanvisionofhope.org).
(Bob’s Pastor at the time, Fred Winters, was later murdered, shot dead, as he was bringing the message to his congregation on a Sunday morning. In Zambia he oversees the daily operations of this wonderful ministry.
