Recently on CBN Television News: “Teen Launches Ministry to Reach His Generation; Hundreds Choose Christ” It can be seen and heard by clicking on … http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2017/september/billy-graham-style-teen-launches-ministry-to-reach-his-generation-hundreds-choose-christ
This story is about that teen featured in the television story … or, more accurately, about the work of Jesus Christ whom he serves.
In 1999 Evangelist Billy Graham led an evangelistic crusade in the Greater St. Louis, MO area. A major ministry partner in that crusade … speaking, leading a number of Crusade youth events … was another respected evangelist, Ron Hutchcraft. During that time Ron was blessed and was rejoicing in a one-year-old grandson, Jordan Whitmer, who was born just a year earlier, in 1998.
Fast forward: Jordan has completed his academic work for his Degree in Bible at Liberty University. And, for a few years now, has been and is the leader of a growing youth movement (www.howtolifemovement.com), for which he says he is now “too old” to do speaking in the many gatherings of the movement! This he began as a young teenager himself with a few friends.
Leading “How To Life” youth gathering are the young people themselves … those under 19.
And as you will hear in this brief time of radio, Jordan has great respect for adults – in this case, me – but he reports that “… young people listen to each other more than they listen to adults!”
He refers to “Generation Z” … youth in middle school, high school, and early college. He notes, according to Barna research, with concern that “… generation Z has the lowest percentage of any age group in American history of those having a Biblical, Christian, worldview … only 4 %!”
But, at the same time, he sees this reality as a great opportunity to share Jesus!
The “How To Life Movement” (www.howtolifemovement.com) began with a youth gathering in Harrison, AR, where Jordan convened 750 high school youth … all led by himself with a few young people. When the gospel was shared, 75 of them responded to follow Jesus!
Already Jordan Whitmer has been on the nationally televised “700 Club,” sharing the “How To Life Movement” with Pat Roberson and a nationwide audience … in addition to the television appearance referenced above.
He wants to connect with others who have a heart for reaching youth for Jesus. To do so, visit the website … www.howtolifemovement.com.
