Attorney Mat Staver leads the great work of “Liberty Counsel.” (www.lc.org) Mat has the qualities of John the Baptist in displaying courage in the public arena, boldness, and biblical soundness.
He was serving as a pastor when he viewed the video: “Assignment Life,” an 8-minute video available to be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM2LNkJ7Yww. The most sensitive area of the woman’s body is obscured. But what is clear is that an unborn baby is reduces to smaller pieces of his/her body … with a suction … like an inner-body vacuum cleaner – remove the final pieces of the baby! Thus… no more baby!
So impacted by the “Assignment Life” video, it set in motion Mat Staver’s attending law school, becoming an attorney, and … in time … becoming Dean of the Liberty University Law School. Soon following –- with his wife Anita — the founder of Liberty Council. The major focuses of Liberty Council are (1) Advancing Religious Freedom, (2) Defending Human Life, (3) Protecting Marriage and Family, and (4) Standing with Israel.

In this radio conversation, Mat spotlights … and role models … the importance of protecting life, especially the lives of the helpless unborn children. He makes observations regarding the 2018 “March for Life” in Washington, D.C. And Liberty Council continues to stand with the Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis, who practiced civil disobedience (as in Act 4:18 – 20 … and as did Dr. Martin Luther King). In obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:4-6), she refused to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. Appropriately, Liberty Council is heavily promoting Kim Davis’s book, An Unlikely Candidate – The Kim Davis Story. See https://www.lc.org/protecting-marriage-and-family.

“He has authored numerous books, including, Faith and Freedom: A Complete Handbook for Defending Your Religious Rights, Religion and the Future of America,… Religious Expression in Public Schools,… Judicial Tyranny, … Political Activity of Nonprofit Organizations, … Union Membership and its Constitutional Implications, …Take Back America, … and Same-Sex Marriage: Putting Every Household at Risk.
He has also authored law review and journal articles on a variety of topics, including
“Disestablishmentarianism Collides With the First Amendment:” … “The Ghost of Thomas Jefferson Still Haunts Churches,” … and “Lifting the Veil: An Expose’ on the American Bar Association’s Arbitrary and Capricious Accreditation Process.”
About Liberty Counsel … From www.lc.org
“Liberty Counsel is a Christian ministry that proclaims, advocates, supports, advances, and defends the good news that God in the person of Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who accept him as Lord and Savior. Every ministry and project of Liberty Counsel centers around and is based upon this good news, which is also referred to as the gospel. Liberty Counsel is a corporate expression of Christian believers who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and join together in regular prayer, study of the Bible, praise and worship. Liberty Counsel has a Doctrinal Statement and a Worldview Statement affirmed by every employee, staff member, and person who works for or represents the ministry.
We believe every person is created in the image of God and should be treated with dignity and respect. We believe that discourse should be civil and respectful. We condemn violence and hatred and do not support any person or group that advocates or promotes violence or hate.
We embrace a worldview that is historically Christian and biblical. We believe that God exists and is the Creator and source of all things, all truth, all knowledge, all value, and all wisdom. We believe God designed an orderly universe and that every human being is created in the image of God. No matter their stage or status in life, each person has intrinsic value and rights. We believe that God is actively at work in the world and has been at work throughout history. From these foundational principles it follows that truth exists and there is a standard of right and wrong. We believe that God has revealed himself and his ways in the natural created order, in history, in the Bible, and supremely in Jesus Christ. We believe that all of creation is fallen as a result of human sin. But God in love and through the sacrificial life and redemptive work of Jesus Christ provides forgiveness and eternal life to all who accept him.
Our comprehensive worldview provides the foundation for every affiliated ministry, program, and project. These include, but are not limited to, (1) Liberty Counsel, an international litigation, education, and policy ministry; (2) Liberty Counsel Action, a ministry focused on education and public policy; (3) Liberty Prayer Network, an international prayer ministry; (4) Liberty Relief International, an international humanitarian ministry to persecuted Christians and religious minorities; (5) Pastors and Patriots, a ministry to pastors, churches, and nonprofit ministries; (6) Christians in Defense of Israel, a ministry centered around Israel and the Jewish people; and (7) Covenant Journey, a ministry to Christian college age students who have leadership potential, designed to strengthen their Christian faith and their support of Israel.
Liberty Counsel, founded in 1989, maintains offices in Central Florida, Virginia and Washington, D.C. and is funded by tax-deductible donations from individuals, businesses, foundations and other organizations.
