Nearly 20 years ago, businessman Gary Tedrick began the always impacting and inspirational Annual (“East Side”) Congressional Prayer Breakfast. It meets in the Collinsville Convention Center, 20-minutes east of the St. Louis Arch. Hundreds attend each year.
*The April 30, 2018 speaker, CPA Adam Hall, personally knows what disappointment, stress, and a sense of work failure is. In his business he was working 70-80 hours a week, his marriage was in great stress, and he had no meaningful time for his children (in time, 10 of them). He was near a “crash and burn!”
“At my lowest point, I was a wreck!” he concluded.
But all this was a “wakeup” call. Something had to be done.
So he responded rather than continue with more of the same. In his desperation he considered what the Bible had to say about doing business. He did a study and began to apply the biblical principles that he learned. He experienced, over a period of time, brought a wonderful, even miraculous, turnaround.
Adam’s new book reflecting what he learned and did should be available at the breakfast. It is titled “The Ten Commandments for Business,” subtitled “Biblical Truths for eternally minded Entrepreneurs. “
You can check out Adam Hall’s website … right now, which is www.thewordonbusiness.com.
Each year the three United States Congressmen, representing the three area Congressional districts in Illinois, serve as hosts.
Hear Adam Hall’s story at the upcoming Congressional Breakfast on Monday, 7:15 AM, April 30, at the Gateway Convention Center, Collinsville, IL.

Many can be eternally grateful that businessman Gary Tedrick founded this impacting annual breakfast (on the Monday before the National Day of Prayer, 1st Thursday in May). You can hear Gary on this brief radio recording with Adam Hall.
From Adam’s website, www.thewordonbusiness.com.
“Maybe you’re …WONDERING WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN AND A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER?
And maybe you’re realizing that a lot of your stress comes as a result of not knowing what God has to say about the activity that you spend most of your day doing—running your business!
It’s tough. It’s confusing. We know. We’ve been there…
The Word on Business is here to help you understand how Biblical principles can help you re-orient your business in a way that both glorifies God and affords you peace of mind!”
In this time of recorded radio, I recalled another businessman with whom I did radio several years ago … who also is very successful. David Steward came to St. Louis from a small, outstate, Missouri town, and began a business that has now gone worldwide! In fact, its name is “World Wide Technology!” Dave and I did radio about his book … “Doing Business by the Good Book!” about using biblical principles in conducting business.. … David Steward is perhaps the most successful black businessman in the United States, perhaps in the world!
So, between Adam Hall (www.thewordonbusiness.com), Dave Steward (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Wide_Technology), and Gary Tedrick (www.answermidwest.com), we have some great business patterns that have obviously worked … and been impacting.
