It is a wide open door! Every church can sponsor a “Good News Club!”
Reese Kauffman is the international President of Child Evangelism Fellowship (www.cefonline.com), the largest ministry to children in the world.
Remarkably, the ministry of CEF is in nearly every country in the world. CEF has a worldwide staff of 3,400. Last year they trained 400,000 volunteers worldwide.
In the United States, CEF President Kauffman tells us of a “wide open door” for reaching public school children in the church’s neighborhood. The US Supreme Court … under the equal access clause … declared it legal for Good News Clubs to be legal if they offer the same after school access to other groups.
And Child Evangelism Fellowship will train the workers from the church leading it, which only requires six volunteers to lead each club.
There is nothing secretive about the operational plan. In coordination of the church with school officials (CEF helps with that also), parents must give their permission for their children to attend the club. And in that relationship, churches know of the families permitting their children to attend … which usually an indicator of families that are favorable to the sponsoring church.
Are there Good News Clubs operational right now? About 4,500. So reaching children and their families is not about “reinventing the wheel!” Thousands of churches are ministering in this manner … right now … making a difference in many lives.
The goal is to see children come to saving faith in Jesus Christ … and then discipled to be obedient to him in the way they live their lives.
