Longtime friend Delbert relates the 1905 story of a pregnant unmarried young woman from St. Joseph, Mo, who took her newborn to Kansas City seeking adoptive parents to provide a good home for her baby.  Delbert cites the 1905 published accounts of the story that appeared in the Kansas City newspaper.   There were many expressions of interest in the adoption.  Adoptive parents were found. Before giving her baby over to them, the mother spent that last night in the lobby of the KC railway station, caressing her baby in her arms all night before returning to St. Joseph.

Fast forward a century.  Then Senator Delbert Scott — now a Christian College President — reveals in a speech to the Missouri State Senate that the mother and baby in this 1905 story were his great-grandmother and grandmother!  In supporting legislation for saving the lives of more unborn children, he revealed that he and scores of his relatives would never have been born had not his great-grandmother chosen to save her baby, Delbert’s grandmother!

That earlier radio recording of the story can be heard right now by clicking on http://haroldhendrick.com/content/view/39/5/

His grandmother became the mother of seven children, the oldest of whom was Delbert’s father.  He lists a range of other descendants who were born and lived out their lives because of the 1905 decision of that young St. Joseph mother.

The story dramatizes an unnoticed aspect of abortion.  Not only the loss of the life of the baby, but of all the descendant of that baby who will never be born and live out their lives.

But another important reminder of what can happen to those who have had an abortion, or who have encouraged others to do so.  In repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ, the bible promises that … “the blood of Jesus Christ his son has forgiven us of all sins!”  If God has forgiven you, then you are forgiven and you will have the gift of eternal life!
