A portion of the discussion includes his invitation to a festival Jack is hosting on the grounds of his art studios in West St. Louis County – featuring artists, music, entertainment, a tour of the many artistic displays in his studios, all free.
This festival is in support of the great healing role for children of St. Jude’s Hospital, of which Jack is a great admirer. This one on May 21 & 22 of 2016, with others likely to follow. We are invited….
Elements of the biography of my longtime friend and spiritual “brother” Jack Scharr are as follows:
“… In addition to commissioning artwork for the U.S. Olympic Games since 1987, Jack is currently working on the American Monument to Courage, the largest bronze sculpture ever built. Jack has directed the creating and promotion of fine art for such events as:
• 100th Anniversary celebration of Carnegie Hall
• 100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation
• 1998 World Cup Soccer Games in France
• 50th Anniversary of the March of Dimes
• Fall of the Berlin Wall
• And many more!
Involvement in such prestigious events has given Jack the opportunity to work with several world renown artists, i.e. Roy Lichtenstein, George Baselitz, Robert Rauschenberg, Hiro Yamagata, Michel Delacroix, Peter Max, Frederick Hart, Joan Mitchell, Aldo Luongo, Don Wiegand, James Rizzi, Harry Weber and the list goes on! Jack’s contacts and knowledge of the art market have given him the ability to reach almost any artist in the world.
Whether a major commission is involved or simply purchasing and organizing a particular collection of art (for corporate, museum or private use), very few people have the experience and insight into the art world that Jack Scharr has. Since 1981, Jack commissioned several hundred works of art while working with hundreds of artists from across the globe.
Jack has worked with the Civic Entrepreneur’s Organization in St. Louis to create a program to purchase art to be on tour and viewed by inner-city schools to promote the arts in the educational system. In 2002, with Fine Art Ltd., Jack operated a gallery for Olympic Aid to raise money to help children throughout the world to become educated in health as well as sport and to encourage their participation in sport. In March 2000, Jack was presented with “Arcale” award in Salamanca, Spain. This award, one of the most coveted international art awards, was given to him for his contribution to society through promotion of editions of works of art.
It has been over 30 years since Jack Scharr pioneered Fine Art Ltd. During that time, he has made Fine Art Ltd. one of the premier companies in the world publishing commemorative fine art.”
