As a young man in Texas, Stan Bower’s life had all the indicators of relative success, but was considerably messed up. (Read about him at http://stlouis.cbmc.com/meet-the-team) Realizing he was, spiritually on the “skids,” he was drawn to saving faith in Jesus. The great turnaround had begun! Life was now on a much better track.
Fast forward: he was invited to help other men to be positively impacted by the same kind of terrific change that Jesus will provide to all who call upon Him. CBMC Leaders in St. Louis … now “Calling Businessmen to Christ” … invited him to be their Area Director. (See www.cbmcstl.com)
Something of a “rugged” and “plain spoken” fellow, Stan spends much of his life in one-to-one discipling relationships with men ,,, regularly using the “Operation Timothy” approach.
Part of CBMC’s great work is providing 14 weekly (listed … there may be more) Discussion Groups. They each gather for about one hour, morning or noon. We are invited … and invited to bring friends. (“Churchy” language is avoided!
Another part of CBMC’s work is sponsoring the 40th Annual Prayer Breakfast of St. . Louis (formerly the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast). This very significant event is conducted in the first part of March each year. In 2016 the speaker is President Ken Starr of Baylor University, famed as having litigated more than 30 cases before the U. S. Supreme Court, and assigned as the Judge of the impeachment process of former President Bill Clinton.
Well over 1,500 are always expected. Once during the days of “The Greatest Show on Turf,” more than 4,000 came to hear St. Louis Rams Quarterback Kurt Warner share his story of saving faith in Jesus.
For tickets to the Breakfast, visit http://stlouis.cbmc.com/stl-events.
If you absolutely cannot attend, it is to be broadcast live between 7:30 – 9:00 AM on Bott Radio Network-owned KSIV-AM (1320), with HHH concocting short interviews while guests are eating.
CBMC also is the sponsor of the Congressional Prayer Breakfast in the Collinsville, IL, Convention Center, in 2016 on Monday, May 2 (and each year on the Monday morning before the National Day of Prayer.
