Jim “Walking Bible” McNiel, recognizes it is a gift … his passion and ability for memorizing great portions of scripture, that is.
But memorizing the word of God – when read, memorized, meditated upon, and obeyed – is a source of great enrichment to all who “give it a try!”
(I recalled those blessed days as a teenager that I went through the Navigator Topical Memory System. Most of those memorized passages I remember and meditate upon to this day. I have heard Chuck Swindoll give a similar report.)
We have a big laugh together in the recording remembering when comedian/ singer/composer Mark Lowry came to the St. Louis area (FBC of St. Charles). Upon Mark’s learning that the “Walking Bible” was in the audience, he took the microphone into the audience, met Jim before the whole crowd, and invited him to “quote something!” Jim quoted the “begats” of Matthew and Luke! (Has anyone else ever memorized the “begats?”)
(Mark Lowry wrote the powerful and moving Christmas song, “Mary Did You know?”)
For years now, quoting full passages of scripture … and often portraying the human writer such as Peter or John … has become an impacting ministry to Jim McNiel.
He has been the guest of many churches and groups quoting the words of the Bible … and would love to do so in your church or group.
We recorded this radio conversation as we approached the Christmas season. Jim noted he loves to present the Christmas story from Matthew and Luke … and would love to come to and dramatically share it to your church or group. Jim can be reached at 314 832-8190. (He lives in St. Louis, Mo, but he travels a lot.)
