Jon Reinagel had a bright future in engineering and technology. “You’re going to do well and make lots of money as an engineer,” he was told. He graduated from a North St. Louis County High School near where I live — McClure North. Gifted and skilled in technology, he did well and made good grades throughout his university education at the University of Missouri at Rolla.
But Jon Reinagel wasn’t happy.
That unhappiness, that dissatisfaction, proved to be an instrument of God wherein he sought God’s forgiveness in Christ … and then, as a young man, went into mission service in Mozambique in Africa.
Now Jon is happy!
High on Jon’s list is working with the local people in a number of ways … including the development of a Christian radio station.
From www.equipmoz.org:
“One tool we discovered for discipleship and evangelism is already widely prevalent—cell phones. We created a website specifically coded for mobile devices that offers free downloads of audio Bibles, sermons, and discipleship materials in the local languages. Because Mozambique’s communicative culture is far more oral than written, audio resources offer a much more effective means of disseminating information than written communication. Many other ministries have started advertising the site to the people they work with, taking advantage of the free resources to help the Mozambicans grow in their Christian faith…
“Gone are the days when Mozambique consistently needed immediate food, aid, and shelter to keep their own people from dying. Mozambique still desperately needs help, but in a different way. How do you help without individuals or the country becoming dependent on foreign aid or deaf to the cries of their own people? … learn how we approach cultural development. ……
“This is the most fun part of what we do; giving Mozambicans the tools to change their country and cheering them on from the sidelines as they accomplish the impossible….”
I (hhh) am delighted to connect Jon Reinagel and his team in Mozambique with friends who can assist him in helping develop a Christian radio station in his area … such as …
Trans World Radio (www.twr.org);
HCJB (Originally “Heralding Christ Jesus Blessings”) – now renamed as “Reach Beyond” — has a “radio plant” team (serving like a “church plant” team) for planting radio stations; — https://reachbeyond.org/;
From www.galcom.org – “Why not consider going on a mission trip? You can deliver and distribute ImpaX or install a Christian radio station…”;
