Ruthie is the delightful wife of Dr. John Marshall, pastor of Second Baptist Church in Springfield (www.secondbaptist.org).  Jennifer — an author, speaker, Bible teacher, and guest in local and national media.  She is additionally inspirational in her ministry … since she is blind.

All ladies are invited.  Registration is required and – if space is still available — can be accessed by clicking on http://mobaptist.org/strategic-partners/ministry-wives.  .

Ruthie, Jennifer and I didn’t connect for radio until very close to this 2015 luncheon, but this brief radio conversation contains benefits and inspiration beyond the ladies luncheon referenced.

Later in 2015 Jenifer Rothschild once again leads an annual women’s conference in Springfield’s Second Baptist Church facilities that is already “sold out” with 2,200 registered.

This focus is on the important role of the wives of pastors.  Their role is so strategic in the plans of God!  In confession, this is the first radio I remember hosting that is focused on such a vital ministry.  Pastors’ wives can potentially “make” or “break” the man of God … and they need to be fully appreciated by all concerned.

·  A John Marshall addition

In reading a powerful selected “blog” by Dr. John Marshall titled “Visiting Prisoners,”  he references such topics as sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and pimps selling girls via the Internet,  slave voyages, William Wilberforce, David Livingstone,  Abraham Lincoln, and Charles Wesley, who said: "I found myself overwhelmed with the love of Christ to sinners."  Dr. John brought to our attention is the following story he told re Charles Wesley, brother of John Wesley, founder of Methodism:

As execution day came nearer [for each group of prisoners to be executed] Charles worked harder and harder with these convicts. He finally began letting himself be locked in at night with these condemned men. Through prayer and witnessing, fear and despair gave way to grace and joy in one life after another. By the day of execution, they had all proclaimed faith in Jesus. On that morning they were crowded in a cart and paraded to the gallows. Charles walked beside the death cart and finally was allowed to climb inside the cart. As the crowd jeered, Wesley spoke words of Biblical comfort to the victims, who began singing a song of Jesus’ death Charles had taught them: … As the ropes were placed around the prisoners’ necks, Charles continued his ministering. He prayed with them, encouraged them, and kissed them … When the floor dropped beneath them, none struggled for life. Charles said he left them going to meet their Lord, ready for the Bridegroom. The spectators had been left speechless by the scene, and as the criminals flew off into eternity, Charles turned and preached to the crowd. He later wrote, ‘That hour under the gallows was the most blessed hour of my life.’"
