Longtime friend Tim Berends introduced me to Christine Weick (rhymes with “like”). We recorded radio in late 2014. Her passion for biblical truth was reminiscent of the Old Testaments prophets.
More recently, after the recording with her you can hear now, she was to make national news in a dramatic way. See the NBC story of it by clicking on … http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/National-Cathedral-to-Host-First-Muslim-Prayer-282303401.html. (Who knows how long this story will be accessible here?)
News cameras captured Christine vocally protesting Muslims worshipping the god of Isis in Washington (DC) National Cathedral, an Episcopal (Christian) Church building!
From the NBC news story, quoting Christine Weick: “’Jesus Christ died on that cross over there!’ a woman said loudly, immediately after beginning announcements were made. ‘He is the reason why we are to worship only him. Jesus Christ is our lord and savior!’… She continued in a loud voice, ‘We have allowed you to build mosques across this country. Why can’t you worship in your own mosque, and leave our churches alone?’"
In this context, remember that great personalities of the Bible, the Word of God — such as Daniel, Jeremiah, Amos, Ezekiel, John the Baptist – took controversial public positions – in obedience to God – and publicly spoke God’s truth. In the case of John the Baptist, Jesus said: “… among those born of women there has not been anyone greater than John the Baptist ….” I don’t know if it is fair … or realistic …to compare Christine Weick with John the Baptist … but she is doing the kind of things that John did!
When Jesus sent out the 12 apostles in Matthew chapter 10, he said: “… So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body ..”(Matthew 10: 26 – 28)
Just before the Friday, November 14th, 2014 event, Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son, said:
“Tomorrow, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.–one of the most prominent Episcopal churches in America–will host a Muslim prayer service to Allah. It’s sad to see a church open its doors to the worship of anything other than the One True God of the Bible who sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to earth to save us from our sins. Jesus was clear when He said, ‘I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” (John 14:6).
Hear Christine’s tell of her ministry of proclaiming truth to the culture … biblical truth … in surprising ways and unusual means.
