In her kitchen one day, Jayne Patton was watching Fox News and Naghmeh (nog’ may) Abedini tell of her persecuted husband Saeed Abedini’s confinement in a harsh Iranian prison.
His “crime?” He is a follower of Jesus Christ who lives out his faith … and will not recant!
Something the Iranian court system seems too fragile to handle.
Jayne contacted Naghmeh via Facebook and was delighted when they became friends. From that simple beginning Jayne Patton has now become Missouri Prayer Vigil leader for Saeed Abedini. In time Naghmeh would be invited to the Annual Meeting of the Missouri Baptist Convention where hundreds of Missouri Christians would hear the story in her own words.
As Prayer Vigil leader, Jayne made arrangements for a prayer event and peaceful protest on the steps of the Missouri State Capitol for persecuted Christians worldwide and particularly Saeed.
A touching aside: as the daughter of fine Missouri pastor David Martin and his wife, even into adulthood, Jayne “went her own way” for several years. It didn’t work out too well. Into a second marriage she was magnetically drawn into a warm and loving relationship with Jesus. Now her passion is for our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters around the world today.
