Vicki Stamps: Since 1993, 100,000,000+ OCC shoeboxes to poor children worldwide. Volunteers needed

Vicki Stamps is a St. Louis, MO, key local volunteer leader for Samaritans Purse’s Operation Christmas Child’ shoeboxes of gifts and love to poor children around the world. Since OCC’s beginning — sponsored by Samaritans Purse and led by Franklin Graham — more than 100,000,000 (100 million!) shoeboxes have been packed, sent, and distributed, one shoebox at a time — to bring indescribable joy and the love of Jesus to children everywhere !

With the growth of Operation Christmas Child, Vicki reports the need of more longer-term volunteers. Her region of St. Louis and 10-eastern Missouri counties – where she has served as Media Coordinator – is an example why. In year-ending 2012, the regions volunteers, mostly from churches, prepared and sent more than 41,000 shoeboxes. In 2013 that same region produced more than 50,000 … a 9,000 shoebox increase!

Such growth is leading that one region to restructure from one OCC group to three … with Vicki becoming the leader in St. Louis City and County. One more example of why more vols are needed!

Because this large 10-county area had a 22% increase in boxes, for 2014 OCC leadership felt led to multiply the team into three teams for the St. Louis metro area to increase boxes even more. The prayer is to get more people involved and to make it more convenient for team members to serve. OCC has formed a St. Louis area team which includes both city and county, a St. Charles area team which includes all of St. Charles County and the area west plus Southwest area team which includes Jefferson, Franklin counties and St. Louis County south of 44. Because of the increase of teams, OCC has several volunteer positions available. All teams will soon be scheduling vision casting meetings for more information on experiencing the joy of serving to reach children around the world.
