Now churches and groups in the USA … and in numerous nations worldwide … have conspired to focus on …
· the joy of giving and meeting needs – in Jesus Name — of those “less fortunate” worldwide; and that
· the gifts having heavy focus on those of love, kindness, and time spent with each other …
· avoiding the “four foot high pile of gifts” of things that may not be wanted or needed; and that …
· the money not spent on material gifts be redirected to those less fortunate worldwide.
The result? Impossible to calculate!
But one major recipient of directed AC gifts is Living Water International. LWI was begun by a group of Texas laypeople who visited Kenya, Africa, in the early 1990’s in a short-term mission effort. They were appalled at what many of the local people were using for drinking water! It reinforced the fact that more people die worldwide from bad drinking water than die from starvation,
As a result, as of this writing LWI (www.water.cc) has now drilled worldwide … in Jesus Name … more than 14,000 fresh water wells to benefit “those less fortunate!”
Thus, through AC and other efforts, in this past generation the number of people worldwide not able to access safe drinking water has been reduced from approximately 1 1/4 billion people … to 800 million! Approximately 400 to 500 million people can now access fresh and safe drinking water that could not in the 1990’s !! Followers of Jesus Christ have led the way in providing this colossal and wonderful result!
