Don Hinkle is editor of the Pathway (www.mbcpathway.com), official periodical of the 1,900+ churches of the Missouri Baptist Convention. In this brief, yet warm, quietly passionate time of interesting radio stories, something of the “heartbeat” of those churches is revealed.
Each participating church is locally independent with its own autonomy. Yet under the “banner” of the Missouri Baptist Convention they voluntarily bond together, intent on serving Jesus Christ by doing ministries together that they less likely could do separately.
Don notes that the representatives (“messengers”) of the MBC churches gather each year … usually in October … for inspiration, encouragement, fellowship, conducting ministry business, and spotlighting their mission of advancing the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19, 29) of their Lord Jesus Christ as expressed in the Bible, the Word of God.
During the MBC program on Tuesday, Oct 29, 2013, in Kansas City, MO, Pathway calls dramatic attention to the worldwide persecution of Christians by presenting Naghmeh (“Nog’ may”) Abedini to tell the story of her husband, Pastor Saeed Abedini, who in confined in a notorious Iranian prison.
(Editor Hinkle helped arrange a radio interview with “Nog’ may.” It is titled “Naghmeh Abedini visits KC; brings worldwide notice to persecution; husband Saeed imprisoned in Iran” … which can be heard right now by clicking on http://haroldhendrick.com/content/view/457/5/)
Also in this radio discussion with Editor Hinkle, a special relationship is noted, birthed under his leadership. Several years ago Pathway featured a front page recognition of the remarkable work of ministry by Dick Bott, founder of Bott Radio Network (www.bottradionetwork.com). This ignited a friendship — even an unofficial partnership in ministry — of the MBC and BRN. We observe that the programming of Bott Radio and the message of Missouri Baptists are quite “comfortable” and “compatible” with each other.
BRN is now composed of more than 90 radio stations in the USA, of which more than 30 are located in Missouri. Pathway’s recognition of Dick Bott was done at a similar time as Mr. Bott and Billy Graham were together inducted into National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Fast-forward to years later, as of this writing, now BRN President Rich Bott, son of Dick and Sherley Bott, is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NRB.
