Karina Petersen, Media Relations Coordinator for “Samaritans Purse” (www.samaritanspurse.org), and Joe Wasser of St. Louis, one of many SP volunteers, were both in Moore, OK as first responders … in Jesus Name … following the tornado devastation in Oklahoma. Karina, daughter of missionaries (in Kenya for many years) may be found, anywhere and at any time, representing Samaritans purse … and Jesus … following any significant disaster.
A touching note: Joe Wasser, normally a chain saw operator, when in Moore was asked to serve in another way. Working at a destroyed home site, Joe’s conversation with the victim revealed that the two men had served in the military at the same base, same unit, and the same location! These years later, they rediscovered each other, brought together by disaster … and Jesus!
While this radio conversation occurred in Moore, hundreds of Samaritans Purse volunteers were, at the same time, in recovery ministry following a tornado of just a few days earlier in Shawnee, OK, the site of my college alma mater, Oklahoma Baptist University.
