Several years ago, Alton, IL, businessman Gary Tedrick, owner of Answer Midwest Answering Service was leaving the St. Louis Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast following a great experience at the event. On his way out he saw his friend, Madison County, Il, public official John Shimkus and said, “We need to have a prayer breakfast like this on our side (Illinois) of the Mississippi] River.” Mr. Shimkus replied: “I’m running for the U.S. Congress. If I’m elected, let’s do it.”
Congressman John Shimkus, Congressman Rodney Davis and Congressman William Enyart are jointly inviting hundreds to the Congressional Prayer Breakfast in the Collinsville, IL, Convention Center on Monday, April 29th at 7:15 AM. Supported by scores of leading citizens there, hundreds are expected to attend the Breakfast, always on the Monday before the National Day of Prayer (first Thursday in May).
The speaker is well known former St. Louis Cardinal pitcher, Andy Benes. Andy is expected to communicate clearly from the Bible how to have peace with God, how to receive forgiveness of all of one’s sins, and how to have “abundant life” here on earth and assurance of living in Heaven forever!
At the conclusion of the breakfast, an opportunity is given for those attending to indicate on a card some level of spiritual commitment. CBMC members, usually two by two’s, make visits to them later that same day, offering support and encouragement to those responding.
We all are invited to the breakfast … this and every year. Tickets are available by calling (618) 463-6850.
