Lt Col Tim Kanoy, Illinois Air National Guard, refuels jets in midair at 500-miles-per-hour! On the day we recorded radio he told me, when asked, of going to work that morning, flying to Carolina from Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis, refueling four F-15 Jet fighter planes in mid-air at 500 miles-per-hour … and returning to Scott for lunch! Col Kanoy also talks of his personal spiritual journey, including being encouraged by a mentor (discipler), and his going through the Navigator Topical Scripture Memory program (which I completed as a young man, impacting me forever). He refers to the family’s love for their four adopted children.
Tim’s career fascinated me. I had never met a midair jet refueling pilot, especially such a gracious one. We met in a packed 2012 Christmas eve service in a barn east of St. Louis, MO … sitting on bales of hay, with the “neighing” of horses whose heads extended from their stalls (we were sitting on their supper!) at Cornerstone Farms (www.cstonefarms.com), operated by special people David and Cortland Hendrick. The setting of that time of excited, warm worship of Jesus had to be a lot like the barn-like conditions when Jesus was born.
