Darla Davidson Lawrence and husband Trey were devastated upon learning that they were to become parents of a Down Syndrome baby.
Now that little Dawson is here … and bringing much joy to the whole family … they cannot imagine life without him!
In telling her moving story, Darla shares about the time when Cayden, her 12-year-old daughter said to her: “Mommy, when I get older, I want to have a Down Syndrome child!”
When Darla explained that not often does a mom give birth to a Down Syndrome child.
“Then I’ll just have to adopt a baby with Down Syndrome,” Cayden responded.
Darla and my daughter Karis Hendrick Burritt have been dear friends for years…with our respective larger families being warm friends for decades. She is the wife of attorney Trey Lawrence and the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Davidson, longtime pastor (now retired) and wife of one of Missouri’s largest congregations, the First Baptist Church of Arnold, MO, and was twice elected President of the 1.900 plus member churches of the Missouri Baptist Convention.
