US Citizen Bill Fawcett, pastoring in Brazil, re the spiritual duty of USA Christians to vote values

October 17, 2012

Bill Fawcett for more than 30 years has served as pastor of the Calvary International Church (www.calvary.org.br) in San Paulo, Brazil, composed of members from 30 + nations.  We recall and laugh about his marriage to Mary Fix, thus providing Mary’s community with what must have been the most practical social event of the season – the “Fix-Fawcett” wedding!

As a US citizen, Bill calls me before major elections for information on the candidates and issues before he mails his absentee ballot in time to be counted.  We discuss the shame of some Christians not voting … wherein I commend Bill for his lifestyle of faithfully voting his values from his place of mission service in Brazil.  Bill and I are both of the conviction that we will not vote for any candidate who approves of the destruction of unborn children, believing that every baby should be allowed to live and thus to have the constitutionally guaranteed right to “…life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness …”

Bill and I were students together in Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Ok.
