Mayor Raeanne Presley of Branson, MO, tells us stimulating stories of her remarkable community of 10,000 that receives an amazing 6 to 9 million guests each year. Branson, “The Wholesome Entertainment Capitol of the World,” is remarkable. The theaters, businesses, and a range of residents were polled in an extended process to produce Branson’s “Our Ozark Legacy” document. (See www.ozarkmountainlegacy.org) The Legacy clearly announces in its summary: “We are guided by Christian Biblical Values.” The community goal is to have the Legacy statement posted on 1,000 walls of theaters, businesses, hotels and other public places throughout Branson…and they are close.
Mayor Presley by marriage is a part of the Presley family whose Presley Country Jubilee Theater was the first of the entertainment locations on the highway 76 “strip,” constructed in 1967. (See www.presleys.com.) Her husband is the drummer in the Jubilee. His grandfather, a Church of God (Cleveland, TN) is given high credit for being a leading “spark” in the whole phenomenon of what has become Branson, MO, as we know it today … “The Wholesome Entertainment Capitol of the World.”
