Mary Nelson, never a mom, credited for saving thousands of children; birthed pregnancy centers

October 6, 2011

In the 1970’s Mary Nelson of St. Louis, MO saw the Francis Schaffer film series: How Shall We Then Live.  She was greatly moved and pondered why so little was being done to save the lives of unborn children.  In response, she convened some friends and soon founded what became the first in a series of a Pregnancy Resources Centers, now known as “Thrive.”  An estimated “ …40,000 women have been touched by THRIVE.”  Thousands of babies have been saved through this great ongoing ministry … though Mary has never married and has no biological children of her own.

Author of a new book, Vignettes of Hope, Mary Nelson shares stories of changed lives of many women with whom she provided Biblical wisdom and guidance.
