Both Jake Rosen and Sam Nadler are descendants of Abraham in the book of Genesis in the Bible. At the time of this radio conversation, Jake hosted a visit of Sam to St. Louis, MO.
About Jake: all of his aunts, all but one uncle, and all his grandparents were murdered in the Nazi Holocaust. Toward the end of World War II, his mother while a teenager was in a coma in Auschwitz concentration camp in Germany, site of the murder of a million Jews. She revived to discover that the war had ended. Later she met her husband and, in time, gave us Jake! J (Eventually she, too, became a follower of Jesus.) Jake became Bar Mitzvah at an orthodox synagogue in St. Louis, MO … and, at the age of 21, came to saving faith in Jesus as his Messiah. He now is the leader of Beit Chesed, a new Messianic Synagogue, and for the past 20 years has been a pastor in St. Louis at Clayton Community Church (characterized by “Conservative doctrine…liberal music… radical obedience…”).
About Sam, selected quotes from his website (www.wordofmessiah.org):
“When Sam Nadler was growing up in Queens, New York, his Jewishness aroused many unanswered questions. Shortly after his Orthodox Bar Mitzvah at the age of 13, Sam gave up any pretense of religious involvement. In fact, it wasn't until he came to faith in Messiah Jesus that he realized his Jewishness wasn't just some accident of nature, but that God had a plan and purpose, not only for the Jewish people as a whole, but for Sam personally.
As Sam looked at some Old Testament prophecies, they seemed to point to Jesus. At first it appeared to be just a coincidence, but over a period of months, while believers prayed, Sam found himself facing the fact that Jesus is indeed the true Messiah of Israel.”
