For ten years Gene Whitehead was “climbing the corporate ladder” as a “higher up” with Starbucks Coffee Company. But a greater calling in his life changed the family’s direction and resulted in a new passion. The calling also utilized his past professional career in coffee-making. In this short radio discussion you can listen to Gene and his 15-year-old daughter Kayla tell their fascinating story. All four family members are on the “team” in anticipating the move and their purpose in moving there. See www.WhiteheadFamilyMission.com. Their strategy is to develop a combination of coffee houses/internet cafés (using “broadband”), otherwise very expensive in that part of the world.
Interesting aside: Gene Whitehead’s local “ecclesia” in Eurasia includes a “rock” music band whose translated name is “Salvation.” For months one of Salvation’s songs, having clear Biblical lyrics, was at the “top” of the secular “charts” in that part of the world. The band’s popularity appears to have given them a bit more latitude and freedom than with others. Their lyrics heard time and again in the area media will doubtless be “softening seeds” in advancing the ultimate work of God’s Spirit in the hearts and receptivity of the people there, a plus in the work of the Whitehead family.
When do the Whitehead’s leave? When they complete securing their financial support. Want to know more? See www.WhiteheadFamilyMission.com.
